The Captains A Lady

The spirit of Betsy,

Our Queen of the Sea,

Has tugged at our heartstrings,

She won’t let us be,

She knows how we love her,

Her wish, our command,

May her name be applauded,

Ower sea and ower land,

Her story be written,

Her fables be told,

A woman of valour,

Bygone days of old,

Of storm and of tempest,

How she sailed through them all,

And of pride and of duty,

How she answered the call,

She did it with humour,

She did it with style,

There were none quite like Betsy,

She charmed them with guile,

And many a captain,

Had ne’er been so bold,

In her best Sunday bonnet,

She’s a sight to behold,

Aye, the captain’s a lady!

Her spirit is free,

But she captured the hearts,

O’ Ed Walker and me!
